/"The following is a student created blog regarding the history of the Petaluma Watershed. This blog is part of a series from students at Casa Grande participating in the Watershed Classroom with educators Paula Biancalana and Jolene Thinnes."
George P. McNear was born in Petaluma in the year of 1857. George P. Mcnear was the son of John A. McNear, one of the first founders of Petaluma in the year 1856. When John A. McNear died, George P. McNear wanted to follow the steps of his father. George P. McNear took over the businesses of his father such as the McNear Milling Company and the Petaluma and Santa Rosa Railway. These businesses of the McNears were significant to the Petaluma River because they would use the river to ship supplies around the San Francisco Bay.
